Why Tumblarity is bullshit:
It seems to be encouraging people to post cookie-cutter nonsense that will rack up “likes” and “reblogs”. You know what? I couldn’t care less about the latest hip product or artsy moleskine notebook. I don’t give a damn about art that a dozen people have already posted or talked about in the last week. And I certainly don’t care one iota about the latest “it” movie that I am probably already planning on seeing myself.
What I do care about is substance. I want to know who you are. I want to know what you like, and not what you think everyone else might like. Fuck numbers and popularity. I want to know about what makes you smile or what makes you tick. I want to see humanity, minus the walls that so many tend to put up. It might not get you more followers, but do you really want a bunch of boring “individuals” keeping up with your blog? I know that I wouldn’t. I’d rather have a few people with actual personalities following my tumblr than thousands of people who only want to get their numbers up.
